Exposition of Blessed Sacrament

On Wednesday and Friday Morning we have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament to pray for Vocations to the Priesthood,Religious life and Diaconate why not join us

Welcome to the Web site of the Roman Catholic Parish of St Joseph, Penketh, Warrington Cheshire. A parish in the Archdiocese of Liverpool, and part of the pastoral area of St Gregory.

The Land for St Josephs was purchased in 1923 and the foundation stone was laid on 23rd September that same year, the church was opened in 1924 the first parish priest being Fr Lonergan, In 1963 the church was extended by putting on the west Transept, and St Joseph's primary school was opened.

Photo of exterior of churchIn 1981 the church was further extended by putting on the east Transept, In 1998 the church celebrated the 75th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the church, and in 2004 the church was completely refurbished and extended it was officially opened and consecrated by Archbishop Kelly on 30th April 2004.

During the War years and into the sixties Burtonwood  American Air Base the largest American Airbase in Europe was on the borderline of the parish, now it is built on with a new urban village called Chapelford and the new properties fall with St Josephs boundary.

Photo of grotto in gardenSt Josephs is a warm friendly church with lots of activities, and young families over the years we have been blessed with many dedicated Priests and Religious Sisters, and the laypeople. The Church is surrounded by well cared gardens.  Within the Gardens we have A Calvary scene and a Grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, The Church has a large car park.Calvary scene in garden

Also on the site we have a parish social centre which is used for functions, it has a good well stocked bar and can be hired out.  We also have meeting rooms adjacent to the Church.
