Between February and July 1858, the Virgin Mary appeared eighteen times to 14 year-old Bernadette Soubirous in the Grotto of Massabielle in Lourdes. During these apparitions, St. Bernadette received a message which she was to make known to the world – a message of God’s love and forgiveness for all. Since then, millions of pilgrims each year respond to Mary’s invitation to ‘come in procession’, to deepen their relationship with her Son, Jesus, and to be cleansed of their sins.

Lourdes is a place of healing – spiritual and physical – and a place where those who are sick are given the place of honour, a sign of Christ’s preferential love for them.

Each year we fill a coach with teenagers from the Parish who go to Lourdes to work on our Archdiocesan Pilgrimage assisting with Sick pilgrims. The youth work together at intervals through the year preparing for their pilgrimage and participating in fund raising activities to help finance their trip
